It pays to chain over the transmission. My Dad used his knees to pull a transmission. I made him a Tran- jack. He said he had been using his knees for years and he could beat my time in half. That was a mechanic. RIP Hugh Wilson.

I didn't feel anything
I always chain the transmissions to the jack. Working at a truck dealership in the mid 90s we had a mechanic putting an Allison automatic back into a trash packer pushing on the jack not the transmission pushed the jack out from under trans and he tried to catch it when it fell cut his right hand off the only thing he had left was a thumb and first finger
I hope that was ai , bc if it wasn't his ribs are crushed into alot of major organs and hes gonna die very soon of not taken into a operating table

ai but I did get a laugh out of it. when I dropped my transmission I didn't have a trans jack and like an idiot I figured I'd straddle it with my legs and lower it down. well I got it down fine but now I had the entire transmission lying on top of me and was unable to move out from under the truck. begrudgingly I had to roll it carefully off me. was able to lift it back up by using a series of cargo straps
why do people make funny videos like this what's the purpose? That transmission was hollowed out and the case is made out of aluminum so it's not very heavy at all.
