the first time I tried changing the oil by myself. I drained the transmission fluid.. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that was a difficult one to tell my parents.

My ex husband and 4 BIL’s were/are self taught mechanics 🧰 needless to say they taught me aLOT and after I reentered the workforce (after my youngest was 5) I ended up working for the government transportation department in maintenance! Talk about a head start.

This happened to me. Changed the oil in the new wife’s car. Unscrewed the plug nothing happened for minutes, then a slow sludge start to come out. 60,000 miles and had never had an oil change. Father told her over years to check the oil, never told to change it . Flushed it, put in High Detergent motor oil, fired it up, ran and sounded good for about 10 minutes; then it was like fogging for mosquitoes! That sludge was holding the piston rings together.
My dad taught my sister and I basic vehicle maintenance before we were aloud to get a license. (As well as 5 brothers!). We also had to practice how to change a tire during, dark conditions and also inclement weather. He actually made us go outside, in pouring rain and do that. So, as for me & my girls…we got it going on! Thanks Daddy!
I changed oil in a Chevy truck at an oil change place I used to work at and when I pulled the plug only one drop came out.

I changed a sway bar on our F150. I regularly rotate my tires and do the oil changes too.
