Arkansas police officer, Joseph Harris, was fired after being recorded beating a handcuffed inmate, Billy Lee Coram, in the back of a patrol car. Details of the Incident: Attempted Self-Harm: The inmate, Billy Lee Coram, who was wearing a hospital gown and had previously told jail staff he ingested fentanyl, attempted to strangle himself with a seatbelt in the moving vehicle. Officer's Response: After the vehicle stopped, Officer Harris opened the door and repeatedly punched and elbowed Coram in the head before removing the seatbelt. Consequences: Officer Harris was subsequently fired by Jonesboro Police Chief Rick Elliott due to his actions captured on the bodycam video. The incident also led to a prosecutor requesting a state investigation.
