FYI procedure is to not approach without a 2nd officer present and you don't fully run after the person attempting evasion so if a situation such as this occurs you will have someone present and you would be in a better position to counter the assailant/defender of self whichever case may be you don't let your guard down and you don't pursue someone armed /potentially armed this shows lack of training or poor judgement probably both
