Most importantly, make absolutely certain the bear spray has a fogging nozzle, not a stream nozzle. Because when you need it to work, your adrenaline will prevent aiming the stream accurately into the bears eyes, nose and mouth. A fog hits all three spots in a short blast.

Came home one night,soon as I entered the house my eyes were watering,the house wreaked of bear spray,on the living room floor my Siberian husky/Wolf bit into a can of bear spray and drank the contents with no effect,she was her usual happy self seeing me,took her to the vet 65 miles away next morning,she couldn’t it had no effect on her,our ranch is very remote in the heart of grizzly country,never had to use bear spray on a bear,month later she grabbed another out of the barn and devoured the contents,no problem,took a video of her for the doubters
