Looked to me like he did the correct (by the book) routine once caught in "no man's land" & then in the rundown. What they want you to do (which Judge did) is to stay in the rundown long enough to allow your teammate to advance to the maximum extent possible. If you're tagged out quickly, the runner(s) can't advance.

its crazy that someone whos played the game for 30 years and became one of the best hitters the game has ever had who they pay hundreds of millions of dollars to play could end up in this situation when the whole play devolved in front of him knowing your down 4 with 0 outs on third base in a win or go home game. I mean as he showed us last year everyone drops a pop fly or has an error and that will happen but this kind of mental error especially given the circumstances is the equivalent of a McDonald's employee making a burger and throwing it in a bag without wrapping it first.
