The 1st baseman should have never started chasing the guy to home plate. All he had to do was touch the 1st base with his foot and make a throw to home plate.

I am pretty sure when the runner went the opposite way from 1st base, he gives himself up and its an out, just no one knows this rule, or does it barely EVER happen!! Also, why would the 1st baseman toss the ball at the last second to the pitcher, he would have had a better shot at the runner by tagging him!!

I ran the bases in a similar way once. On first headed to second when it was hit to second baseman. I stopped running so he came to tag me. My teammate acted like I was dumb and said that I had to run. I informed him that I was well aware, but I didn’t have to let him get the double play.
That’s the first thing you’re taught in T-Ball. This is pathetic to see professional baseball players being so incompetent.
I thought it was illegal to run or walk backwards to home plate as you go to first, you're only allowed to go one direction.

people dont understand baseball need not comment. the out at first was the third out in the inning all the other stuff means nothing once the out is recorded. even aftrr the guy at home scored they could have still gotten the out at first before runner got there and the run would still not count.

I’ve been watching baseball for 60 yrs and this along with the ball that hit Jose Canseco in the head as he was trying to catch it then bounced off his head over the wall for a HR are the 2 most bizarre I’ve ever seen
