im not sure i agree with across the face, but not seeing it this may be blown out of proportion. regardless I do agree children need to realize the crap could hit the fan so they have respect. both of my boys got their back porches painted red.... once each. and after that all I had to ask was do you want a spanking and the attitude changed immediately. dont threaten, do it once so they know your willing and after that the threat is based in fact.
that's what parents and grandparents need to do. nowadays these kids get away with any thing and every thing. Smack them so they will respect
