A person can't ask for overtime pay when they take it upon themselves to work late. In most businesses, overtime is pre-approved. If you work extra hours without prior approval, it's at your boss or manager's discretion whether you get paid or not.

I worked in a warehouse one time and they needed help at the sister warehouse volunteer for a week got there stared loading the other workers just stood around till it got super busy then here comes their supervisor can you help them out we said why did you let them stand around the first hr doing nothing that's the last time I volunteer to help them

Yepp. HSM in Tulsa we had an awesome manager he would come out and work on the floor and sweat his ass off cause no ac… in Nov we got new ppl they fired the manager. We have a supervisor now. He only come to the floor to walk around and spy then go back in the office to the ac or heat in winter. He don’t help he just bitches
