These older trucks don’t have any of that auto tailgate stuff that a lot of new trucks do. You gotta slam it nice and hard to close it properly. Older things tend to require a bit more rough treatment, but they get the job done

A good workshop vice should be able to hold a decent amount of weight with a really good grip. A bonus is if it also has interchangeable jaws. Soft jaws can be better for holding delicate parts or surfaces you’re trying to protect
