I'm here today to talk about my Chiari malformation and how it's making it really hard for me to work. I was diagnosed in 2019, but I've actually been dealing with symptoms since way back in 2011. To make sure I don't forget anything important, I prepared this statement beforehand. One of my symptoms is memory problems, so it's helpful for me to have everything written down. Here's what's been going on I get these awful headaches a few times a week. The pain is sharp, throbbing, and sometimes even feels hot. It starts in my neck, goes up the back of my head, and sometimes even behind my eyes. Coughing, sneezing, or bending over makes them so much worse. * My neck hurts almost all the time, from my shoulders all the way up to the base of my skull. It gets stiff, and sometimes I get this throbbing pain. It's worse when I move my head certain ways or if I overdo it physically. * I feel lightheaded pretty often, especially if I bend over or stand up too quickly. I have trouble with my balance too, and I've even fallen before because of it. * The worst part is the numbness and tingling in my arms and legs. It's like a million needles stabbing me, and it can last for days. It makes it hard to do just about anything. * I also have a lot of other problems, like needing to pee all the time, weakness in my arms and legs, and constant pain in my back, legs, and joints. I'm always tired, and I even forget what I'm doing sometimes. It's really frustrating. * Lately, I've been feeling really anxious and down. I don't like leaving the house much anymore, and I just feel like I can't do anything. I haven't been able to get any real treatment for this because my insurance won't cover it. I've tried neck braces, traction, and some medications, but nothing seems to help much. Because of all this, I haven't been able to work. I used to be a mover, but there's no way I can lift heavy things anymore. I tried working as a pizza maker, but my hands go numb too much to do that kind of work. It's just been really hard to deal with all of this
