For example, 1 Corinthians 15:18, in the ESV, says: "Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished." This verse, however, refers to the consequence if there is no resurrection. A more direct parallel can be found in 1 Thessalonians 4:14, KJV: "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him."
